If you look up the words, “WILD CHILD” in the dictionary, you will find a picture of a spunky German Wirehair Pointer, Scott Kusel’s, Jade. A wild child she may be, but Scott could tell early on that she was going to be something really special. Scott had an excellent dog in Huntz, and Jade would prove to be equally great if not greater. She had a very fun and playful demeanor which was a good match for Scott. Jade enjoyed waterfowl and was a phenomenal duck and goose dog. However, she achieved true greatness in the tournament hunting field.
Jade had many characteristics instilled in her that would make her a tournament dog with undeniable talent. She had a refined nose that could smell a bird a mile away. She picked apart a field like a fine-toothed comb…if there was a bird there, Jade would find it. Jade didn’t care who was in the field with her as long as she was hunting and she made it really easy for them. When she was birdie her behind would shake like crazy. These qualities lead Jade to several accolades which include: Wisconsin Series Dog of the Year, US Open Champion in the Doubles Division with RJ Teune and DeWayne Morrison teamed up, and back-to-back National Champion. In fact, in 2007, Jade swept the National Championships in Top Gun with Scott as the gunner, and Doubles where Scott partnered with Bob Garrity. It was not uncommon to see Jade make the Top 10 in nearly every Super Major she attended providing Scott and those that hunted with her some really great memories to cherish.
On this day, Thursday, March 17th, 2016, Jade enters that National Bird Dog Circuit with 550 Champion points, Legendary Status, 5 Super Major titles and 2 Major wins. She will never be forgotten and will always be remembered as one of the greatest dogs Scott was blessed to have in his life.
