Bella, owned by Tom and Rachael Foss, was one of the great German Shorthairs to play the game. One thing that cannot be denied is how proud Tom always was of her. He would put her up against anyone at any time in any circumstances. She was on autopilot whether Tom was gunning for her or Zac was.
Although Bella was competitive in every division she competed in, her forte was the doubles division. One of Bella’s greatest accomplishments was winning Doubles at the BDC National Championships 3 years in a row which is certainly something to be proud of. In 2013, she earned her way to the finals in both singles and doubles taking home the money in doubles competing against the likes of Joey (Vonnahme) and Jackson (Hanson). In 2014, competing against 58 unique dogs with 16 in the finals, Bella, with Zac and Craig partnering, ran an impressive 6:58 on 6 birds beating Richard Sipes and Ken Neese by nearly 2 minutes. The following year, Bella, along with Zac and Craig again, beat out amazing dogs like Caz and Ralphie to take home another National Championship. At the 2016 and 2017 National Championships, Bella didn’t win but still showed up placing 2nd in 2016 and 5th in 2017, again in Doubles. She came back strong in 2018, winning the Invitational to start the year. At Nationals, competing once again with Zac and Craig, Bella crushed a 5-Bird run in a quick 3:58 for her final Doubles National Championship win.
Today, March 11, 2021 Bella enters the BDC Hall of Fame as a Legendary Status dog with 56 Championships, 1135 career champion points, 6 Super Major wins and 1 Major win. Bella ended her career just outside the top 10 Lifetime Pointing Dog standings. Bella was an incredible dog that made an impact on the sport and will forever be remembered.
