Every competitive upland hunter starts out in the game with high expectations for success, usually with a dog that shows big potential.

For John Turnquist it was his Yellow Lab, “Elko”, that would make him a name in the game.

“Elko” dominated the sport for over a decade in the 2000s, running with a tough group of future Legends in Lexus, Trapper, Stash, JJ, Newman, Baxter and Hey Joe. She could find birds fast and produced “bird after bird” for Johnny to shoot at until the run was over! If there was a bird in the field… Elko would find it.

Winning DOG OF THE YEAR titles and making the TOP 10 RUN-OFF in almost every Super Major she attended was something that was natural for this hard working yellow lab. She brought a great nose to the game and gave her owner, John Turnquist, some very special memories.

“Turny’s Elko Girl” enters the BDC Hall of Fame a Platinum Status Champion, earning 414 Lifetime Champion Points; Championed 20X, with 3 Super Major Chamionships and 1 BDC Major Championship.

She was a great dog and will forever be remembered.
