Bing’s Lone Mountain Buddy made the long trip from Georgia to his new home in Nevada on United Airlines when he was 8 weeks old. He arrived at Reno Airport to be greeted by his new owner Bing. As always when he was old enough to learn the ropes he was sent to Epps Kennels. Buddy’s first placements was at Big Meadows at less than a year old he won Second in Puppy and third in Top gun. His next super major was Western National that year and he won Second in Top Gun and Third in Puppy. Then by his second year he was starting to figure out the game and at Big Meadows he make the sweep winning Top Gun, Doubles and Puppy! He backed up his wins the following year at Big Meadows by winning Top Gun and Doubles again.
Buddy was a one man dog making him the the worse doubles dog Bing has ever ran because if Bing was in the field there was no way Buddy was going to hunt for or deliver a bird to anyone else. A couple times when he got older if Bing’s partner would just stand there and not say anything he might be able to grab the bird from Buddy as he went by. If someone else was going to run Buddy in a Top Gun run Bing would have to stay out of site and Buddy would hunt with any one with a gun then. But even with that handy cap Buddy won 6 Super Major Doubles in his career. Bing will always remember his doubles run at Worlds with Joan in 2015. Bing’s plan was to Top Gun the run. His instructions to Joan at the gate was “Don’t get a penalty for running trying to keep up!” They won the field in the preliminary’s and ended up third in the finals.
Today, March 10, 2022 Buddy enters the BDC Hall of Fame as a Legendary Status Dog with 46 Championships, 935 career Champion points, 12 Super Major Championships and 3 Major Championships. Buddy will be remembered by Bing and all that ran him.
